i feel like i have a giant rock in my stomach. last night, my grandmother made a birthday cake for my brother which was supposed to contain amaretto. being a good Fundamentalist Christian living in a dry city, she didn't have any. so she substituted pure almond extract. as a result, my parents and i (dunno about anyone else) were up half the night with stomach cramps. antacid tablets help a bit, but they wear off after about an hour, meaning that halfway through class this morning i ended up doubled over in pain once again. i probably should eat something else, but even chewing antacid tablets makes me nauseous as if my stomach thinks i'm trying to poison it further, and i don't know of anything i could eat that's readily obtainable (doesn't require cooking) and is not likely to upset my stomach even more.

other than that, everything's peachy. ^_^

Why would she make a cake like that in the first place, if it's based on alcohol, for a 13 year old's birthday?

Stick with the old Angel's Food/Devil's Food/Ice Cream Cake standards, I say...

But I'm saying, if you're going to have to make a substitution anyway, then why bother?
