Office Christmas party is tonight... I really really really really really don't want to go, as it's an hour drive down there and even thought they say it's from 6 to 10, generally they don't give out the free stuff until after that. And I really don't want to be in South Dallas at 10pm. And I really don't want to be driving home from South Dallas after 10pm on a Saturday night.

They better have something more interesting than casino tables and bingo this year. Sitting around bored out of my mind and trying to pretend I'm interested in what people I don't care about are saying to me for four hours is a lot to put up with just to get whatever surprise they've planned for this year. All I know is that it's not a bonus, but that doesn't really rule out money in some form (usually a few random gift cards, but the blondes at corporate are unusually excited about it, so it better be worth the headache of going to the party).

The good news is that I get to close up here at 3 because of the stupid thing, which will give me enough time to go home, shower, get dressed, and most likely arrive a little late. Also, the party is being catered this year by the boss's ex-housekeeper, who is an excellent cook. It'll probably be mostly Mexican food, but I can live with that. Anyone who's ever had homemade tamales knows what I'm talking about.

I have to show up because my mom is my boss's boss, and she'll kick my ass if I don't, but I'm heavily considering spending most of my time in the babysitting room, because spending 4 hours in a room with 15 small children sounds a lot more appealing than spending 4 hours with my drunken co-workers. Especially since I won't be drinking because I live so far away.

That... kinda... sucks....

I know what you mean though. It it wasn't for the power of alcohol, I don't think I would've been able to stand last night's party. Having to face that sober? *dies at thought*

And, I agree on the tamal thing. Hommade tamales are AWESOME.

homemade tamales OWN. My mom's maid (my mom runs a maids service; she's a maid as well) used to make them. SOOOOOOOO GOOD.

Last year my mom paid for some tamales from this same lady and that's what we had for Christmas dinner. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than turkey if you ask me.
