Well, I made it through the weekend. Christmas wasn't so horribly… - love like me ・ 日記

Well, I made it through the weekend. Christmas wasn't so horribly bad, really, in spite of all the crap that kept happening.

I got the self-cleaning litterbox and it is yey. I also got an afghan book (as if I can afford enough yarn for an afghan...), a portable TV/radio thingy, some fuzzy socks, a Prince of Tennis wall scroll, Nintendogs (which I can't decide yet if I'll actually play long-term, but it's really really cute), a DS accessory (not actually available outside Japan afaik) that snaps onto the lid of yer DS and holds 3 games, a $20 Dillards gift card, some cash, and... well this last thing is a little difficult to explain.

The first Barbie doll I ever owned was a Ballerina Barbie. This was in about 1983. By a couple years later I didn't give a crap about Barbies anymore, but I always loved that one, possibly because she had a crown on her head. Fast forward to my freshman year of high school. The first weekend of spring break [1996], the halogen bulb in my bedroom lamp exploded, catching my bed and pretty much everything in my room on fire. Aforementioned Barbie, for some reason I forget now, was on the dresser across the room. The next day I found her, somehow still mostly intact, but one arm and half her head had melted. In case you hadn't guessed by now, one of my gifts this year was a Ballerina Barbie. Not the exact same one, but damn close. Guessing from the copyright on the box, it's the 1979 model (the face and hair were slightly different on mine, which I do still have--it's a 1982). Yeah, NRFB. Still has the original price tag on it (it was $11.99 at Mervyn's, in case anyone was curious). I'm surprised my mom was able to get one even that close, or that she even thought of that.

I finished the scarf for my great-aunt yesterday, and I figure it'll take me a day or two to do a set of potholders for my grandmother with the leftover yarn from that (I won't be seeing either of them till this weekend anyway). There are some other patterns I'd prefer to do instead but I don't have the needles for them. I wish somebody woulda got me a gift card for somewhere that sells knitting supplies... ^^;;

EDIT: Holy crap! Forecast high for today is 79F/26C! Just last week it was freezing out there...
