non solum memento mori, memento vivere sed etiam
So for Christmas I got Barbara G. Walker's Learn-to-Knit Afghan Book, and after reading through the whole book, I actually started working on it on New Year's Day, and finished the first square today. I guess you could say the only New Year's Resolution I have is to do at least 50 squares out of the 63 in the book by New Year's 2007.

Square 1: Striped Garter Stitch Square 1: Striped Garter Stitch

Yeah, it looks a bit lopsided. I pulled it a little too tight when I changed yarn colors (especially towards the end), and as usual I bound off too tightly. That should sort itself out, though, in the finishing stages. It took me a week to finish this square (it's super-easy, I just worked on it rather sporadically)... At that rate I might finish this thing by Summer 2007.

That weird-looking spot in the 5th light-colored stripe from the bottom isn't actually a messed-up stitch, it's a badly-placed knot. I've since fixed it with a crochet hook.

Future progress will be posted here, if nowhere else.
