Normally, it's more or less okay if I don't pay my electric bill. Somehow they're unable to cut off my electricity without also cutting off my downstairs neighbors' electricity also, and vice versa, so as long as one of us is current on our bill we both have electricity.

Well, then I was unemployed for 4 months. Electricity is the one bill I haven't managed to catch up on, and because of the above situation, I didn't think it was really that big a deal if I couldn't catch it up until my next paycheck.

Then I came home on Monday to no electricity.

I didn't think this was really a big deal, because they've cut it off before, and it's usually on again within a couple hours when my downstairs neighbors called to complain about their electricity being cut off. But it was still off in the morning. And still off when I came home from work that night. After it got dark I went out to my car for something, and could see the glow of one of those wind-up LED lamps coming from the window downstairs... I guess this time they didn't pay their bill either.

Oh well. I get paid on the 18th, and then I should be able to pay them off.

Moral: don't lose your job. Ever.

That is seriously a bizarre situation with the two places being on one switch! What are you going to do until the 18th?

So far it hasn't impacted my routine a whole lot. Mainly I'm skipping dinner and just going to bed earlier. It is a bit annoying getting dressed in the dark, and I have to shower as soon as I get home in the afternoon so that I have a chance of being able to see what I'm doing, but otherwise it's okay.

Well, apart from that feeling of disconnectedness that comes from being somewhere that doesn't have an internet connection...
