...and back again: きっと大丈夫だよ。
Drove out to Marshall (three hours away) to support my sister on Saturday, but I had to come back to work on Sunday. I had been planning to go again at the weekend (Thursday), but his family had set the memorial service for Tuesday morning, so I left right after work and just managed to make it. Thankfully I was able to get Tuesday night off, but I had to come back again to work tonight, but my sister wants me to come back at the weekend anyway, so I'll likely do that Thursday morning.

Gas is back down to $3.55, which is about the break-even point for train fare, so I'll probably drive. That and since his parents took his computer, she needs one, so I'll be taking her my spare. Since I can't sleep anyway, I'm setting it up for her now (which entails installing Windows... I don't think she's in any shape to cope with the GUI-less Slackware install it's got now, and Ubuntu is Not Pretty on 800mHz). She'll need a monitor, but I'm sure we can sort that out one way or another.

The memorial service was as enjoyable as such things get, though. Very positive and uplifting, including the Air Force theme song led by a Navy pastor. XD And there was a minor miracle! My passenger side window, which has stubbornly refused to even run the motor when I press the "window down" button ever since an ice storm in early 2007, obediently went down when my sister, who didn't know it was broken, tried it. Then I rolled it up and down several times in disbelief, but it actually does appear to have been miraculously fixed! Either that or the torrential rain I drove through this morning got some water in there that is completing a circuit, which totally means it should be cheap to fix for reals.
