there was a weird karaoke thing going on on Hayden Lawn where 2 guys… - love like me ・ 日記

音楽: (in my head) I Got You Babe (sorta)
there was a weird karaoke thing going on on Hayden Lawn where 2 guys were singing "I Got You Babe", and i've been listening to industrial since i got back here, so the lyrics are mixing themselves with that style in a cool and interesting way in my head. (anybody know if there are industrial covers of that song out there? Nick? ^_^ )

but i wanted to post about yesterday, because some cool things happened. but i'm gonna tell it in reverse order, because the really funny thing happened first, and i wanna tell it last.

being extraordinarily forgettable finally pays off: i got a free dinner at KFC. i ordered a crispy strips meal in the drivethru. but they said that the regular (nonspicy) crispy strips wouldn't be ready for another 5 minutes, if i wanted to wait it'd be about 5 minutes. i decided to wait, and they gave me my drink free for my trouble. it was taking awhile and there was a line, so they asked me to pull up and park. so i did. i waited for about 15 more minutes before i decided to go in and check on my food. so i go in, wait in line, tell them i ordered something in the drivethru 20 minutes ago and didn't get it, they scroll the order history back...they had completely forgotten about me. so they gave me my money back, apologized profusely, and gave me my food.

before that, in my Spanish class. the professor was saying (in Spanish) how she didn't know how she fucked up the syllabus so badly (she'd added an extra day in that we don't have) because she doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't do drugs...she only drinks coffee. what came out of my mouth was something like "quizás tomaba mucho café, ねえ... *blush* ああっ!ごめんなさい! *blush harder* sorry. *bury head in desk*"

Um.. I presume [unreadable string of blocks] is japanese or something?
It's not funny if you can't read it.

Lazy people.

ne(Japanese for "eh?" sorta)... *blush* Aah! Gomen nasai!(Japanese for "Ah! I'm sorry!")
(BTW: I do that all the time in Japanese class. For some reason Japanese and Spanish seem to flow in my brain into each other as well.)

Re: Lazy people.

someone just recently pointed out to me that i subconsciously add "ne" to the ends of sentences quite a lot. which is amusing because i didn't notice until it was pointed out to me just how frequently it happens. that's the first time that i've continued in Japanese after doing it though.

Re: Lazy people.

I do sometimes, but I usually say "yo"... and everyone's like "When did you suddenly turn black?" and I'm like "wha...? No! I meant it like Japanese." But all the people I usually talk to don't know Japanese, so... that's rather useless.
I just realized I did that now. I am not very observant of my own trends.

Re: Lazy people.

oh. i meant to say. that's common when learning foreign languages. if you only know one, you never run into this sort of switching problem. if you consider your brain like a filing cabinet, it's got a drawer for English words and a drawer for foreign languages. part of learning multiple languages successfully is learning how to compartmentalize each language so you're not codeswitching all the time. of course it's practically impossible to *never* codeswitch, but everyone gets better with practice, ne? ^_^

incidentally, this only happened extremely rarely when i was studying Hebrew and French. for some reason it's Japanese that refuses to be separated. or maybe Japanese is just taking over my soul. if it's the latter, i can think of worse things to have infesting your being. ^_~

Industrial Covers

There's no industrial covers of "I Got You Babe" listed on the spiffy Industrial Covers List webpage, so I think you're out of luck there.
